Larry Schaffer talks SoCal Modern Architecture

In 1995 design-buff Larry Schaffer opened the chic gift shop OK on Third Avenue in Los Angeles, selling modernist wares and designer must-haves. In the 15 years since, his fans have become legion, the shop has opened a new Silverlake store, and the connoisseur’s OK blog keeps us up to speed on beautiful doings the world over. Having once lived in a Neutra house––and now a Schindler––Schaffer knows what he’s talking about when, in this exclusive for NOWNESS, he lists five “inherently Southern California buildings that have shaped the way that I look at architecture and showed me what it can be.”~via Nowness

Shop the Store : : COUP D’ETAT

Oh, I love this place and their eclectic vibe. I discovered San Franscisco’s Coup d’Etat from California Home and Design Magazine. Apparently they have a new showroom located at 111 Rhode Island Street in San Francisco’s Design District and have shorted their name to COUP .

These are my fave pieces! If you’re in the Bay Area, I think you should check them out.

Elmgreen & Dragset

Elmgreen & Dragset, the duo who brought us Prada in the middle of Marfa, Texas desert, “have redefined the way in which art is presented and experienced. Drawing from disciplines as divergent as institutional critique, social politics, performance and architecture, in their sculptures and installations the artists reconfigure the familiar with characteristic wit and subversive humour”.~victoria miro

I’m totally into these guys.

Camilla @SUITE New York

The Camilla chair by YDF (an acronym for Young Designers Factory) is a newest addition to the SUITE New York collection, one of my favorite furniture sourcing spots.
Camilla epitomizes the versatility, purity and freshness associated with the brand. Available in a wide range of colors, its seat and back are epoxy-painted alloy. Frame in chrome or epoxy-painted to match the seat.
Stackable and suitable for use inside or out. I’m loving them and the idea of using all the colors at one table!
