Parachute Market | ELEMENTAL

parachuteThis weekend brings another event from Parachute Market : : ELEMENTAL

E L E M E N T A L will provide a special opportunity for patrons to experience design through a theme that explores both the physical and ethereal origins of the design process. The participating designers are invited to represent their finished work, while including in their exhibit some nod to how the elements play into creative process. Some artists might exhibit their processes externally on the surface of their goods, while others could invite more conceptual inquiry about the influences that lead to the finished product. The objective is to communicate the value of the process while also presenting a final product for sale. In an era of behind the scenes and curated reality of the insta-community, this is an opportunity to editorialize one’s personal design with authenticity and freedom of interpretation.

At this weekend’s event you will find installations from vintage object/furniture store The Window,  LAs Joel Chen of JF Chen and artist Clare Graham of Mor York. Along with booths from Reform Gallery, A Current Affair, Twenty Two Hours to just name a few.

Parachute Market : : ELEMENTAL starts this Saturday and is located at 405 Mateo St. Downtown Los Angeles.  Please visit their Facebook page and web site for more information.

Costes

Costes” has created home candles with premium quality beeswax. This candle will gently diffuse its fragrance in your home to evoke the refined ambiance of Costes hotels. This candle is presented in a plumcolour glass. Its “burgundy red” colour recalls somehow the very British atmosphere of the “Costes” hotel, with its wooden panelling and wall colours. This enveloping candle diffuses scents of polished wood, rhum, mahogany, oakmoss, and paprika.

mmmm.

Drinks are on me….

if only I knew where to get it.

Really nice package design by Stockholm Design Lab for Takeshi Akiyama’s Ohmine Sake.

If you are interested in sake, check out this interview with Takeshi Akiyama over at Hitspaper.

A contemporary take on Sake. Takeshi Akiyama is a exclusive sake manufacturer based in southern Japan. For generations, his family has produced sake in three qualities; Junmai, Junmai Ginjo, Junmai Daiginjo. The quality of the sake is determined by the percentage of the original rice grain that is used in the brewing process. The lesser the better. And that is also the core idea of our design ~ Stockholm Design Lab

A bottle of this would definitely make a great gift!

Crystal Head Vodka

Went to a really great party last Saturday night to celebrate a friend’s birthday at his FAB home. It was pretty hard to peel me away from the caviar and Crystal Head Vodka table.

Dan Aykroyd and John Alexander created their “perfect vodka” using a quadruple-distillation process thus making Crystal Head Vodka as pure as vodka can be. The head bottle design was inspired by the archaeological mystery of the 13 found crystal heads, said to be between 5,000 and 35,000 years old and the spiritual qualities and enlightenment they behold and given to those who possess them.
